In this competitive fashion industry, standing out from the crowd is the key to success. Every other minute, a business is launching somewhere in the world, but only a handful catches the wider audience’s eyes. While enjoying a delicious cappuccino at a local cafe in Cambridge, I recently came across a minimalist watch company Kane Watches that is based in Amsterdam. What impressed me the most about them is their business idea that:
“Time is limited. It is the one thing we can never have enough of. Use it to your advantage because it’s your time”
I have lived in Cambridge for the last 5 years but never got a chance to experience its beauty like an explorer. Because I shall soon be moving out of Cambridge, I thought to use my limited time here wisely and spend a day taking in its beautiful sights.
Cambridge is home to the world’s famous University of Cambridge which was founded in 1209. It is a university town located in Cambridgeshire, England on the River Cam, with a population of approximately 150,000 people including 25,000 students. This beautiful town has been an important trading centre during the Roman and Viking ages. Although the first town charters were granted in the 12th century, modern city status was not officially transferred until 1951. Apart from the famous King’s College Chapel, renowned colleges and the world’s largest legal deposit Cambridge University Library, the city is famous for its marvellous architecture, colourful houses, historic churches, Anglia Ruskin University and the Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
Iconic Sight of Cambridge
I started my day trip from the King’s College Chapel, admiring it’s unique architecture. This chapel is considered as one of the best examples of late Gothic English architecture and the the iconic sight of Cambridge. Decorated with the world’s largest fan-vault ceiling, stained-glass windows and wooden chancel screens, this Chapel welcomes thousands of visitors each month.
After spending some time in the chapel, I walked all the way down to the Cambridge Backs and climbed up the King’s College Bridge, which offers the best view of the iconic Chapel.
Aim to spend about an hour exploring the Chapel and the Backs by foot. The other option is to enjoy the view of beautiful colleges and the Cambridge Backs on the punting boats. You can either hire one for an hour or two and take one of the guided tours. I highly recommend taking the guided tours from either Scudamores or Cambridge Punt Company as they have highly experienced punting chauffeurs with extended knowledge about Cambridge history. Punting on the River Cam is one of the most amazing experiences you can enjoy in Cambridge. Because it’s a very exciting part about this place, I shall write a separate blog about Punting in Cambridge very soon.
Best Rooftop View in Cambridge
Cambridge offers more than 30 colleges which becomes one of the most exciting parts to learn about its history and culture. Although visiting all of the colleges in a day would be challenge, you can simply pick your favourites and spend a couple of hours there. Instead, if you would like to admire the bird’s eye view of the colleges, climb up the tower of the Great St Mary’s Church to enjoy the best view of Cambridge.
I have spent some quality time in Cambridge inspired by the slogan of Kane Watches. I would have never thought about exploring this wonderful city on my own. Cause I live here, I was more prone to explore other cities considering that I can explore Cambridge any other time. I have only got to realise that I was missing out on plenty of exciting things to do in Cambridge. So, I have decided to name my trip as #KaneBridge.
Talking about Kane Watches, in just over a year, the company has made almost a million euros since its launch in January 2017 and is selling in over 70 reputable jewellery stores in the Netherlands and globally online. Christopher Rasker, the founder of Kane Watches, discovered that the best way of life is in which you focus on the things that really matters in order to be more present in the moment. The word Kaizen in Japanese means continuous improvement and the name Kane is derived from this, which represents a clean, simple and essential design watch for daily wear. This minimalist style watch would suit every one for every occasion. A watch is a special accessory that reminds you to stay focussed on what is important to you NOW. So, use your time to your advantage cause #ItsYourTime. Here are some of my favourites designs from Kane Watches.

I absolutely loved the minimalist style of Kane Watches, from the variant colours to the simple design and the superior quality, these watches tick all the boxes for a daily wear watch.
I hope you’ll use your time wisely as it has a wonderful way of showing us what really matters. If you haven’t explored your local town yet, then plan your next Saturday and be an explorer in your own town.
See you at other destinations around the world!
